Volunteering

The quest to heighten the awareness and dispel the myths of epilepsy is urgent, we need your help. Volunteering is an exchange of skills, friendship and empowerment. Your ability to donate a few hours a month directly impacts the quality of life of those touched by epilepsy. Joining our network of dedicated volunteers upholds the self-esteem and commitment of those with whom you volunteer and together you directly impact the quality of life for so many.

General Volunteering
Use valuable skills while giving back to your community. Choose from a wide range of volunteer tasks. Assist with the organization of fund raising and awareness events, create parent and teacher toolkits, assist with the creation of our quarterly newsletter or get some exercise and fresh air working in our garden. Peer-to-Peer / Ambassador
Wish you could talk with someone... peer-to-peer?

A diagnosis of epilepsy can be life altering. Speaking with and sharing your successes and challenges can be insightful. We invite you to become an Epilepsy Ambassador and or a Peer-to-Peer support advocate. The goal is to inspire, offer compassion, empathy and encouragement. Youth Volunteering (Community Service Hours)
Volunteering can be a great asset to a young person trying to gain experience in the working world. Explore career options, become socially aware, gain self-confidence and experience while completing your curriculum requirements. During the school year some tasks may be completed at home. Enquire about our Lora the Lavender Labrador Campaign and how you can help. In the summer you can assist us with Gladioli Flower Campaign. Contact our office and find out how you can get involved.

Student Co-operative Programme
Are you a post secondary student and would like to complete your internship placement with Epilepsy Durham Region? Send an email stating the details of your desired co-op along with an up-to-date resume and cover letter in MS Word format to support@epilepsydurham.com.
