Awareness

Lora the Lavender Labrador Lora the Lavender Labrador

Who is Lora? Why was she created?

Lora has been designed by the Epilepsy Durham Region Team to promote epilepsy awareness and seizure dogs. Epilepsy is only one part of a person’s life and yet this one aspect can become the focus of the public, fellow coworkers, acquaintances, and even friends. All too often a person with epilepsy is not judged or celebrated for his or her accomplishments, abilities, and personal value, but judged based on a medical condition – one that is commonly misunderstood.

This stigma is unfair and sadly it can negatively impact all facets of one’s life including school, career, family and social life. The stigma of this condition can be the most challenging part of living with epilepsy and is often more difficult to manage than the seizures.

Each plush toy carries a message relating to epilepsy. When you make a $15 donation to Epilepsy Durham Region we would be happy to deliver a complimentary Lora dog to your home. If you would like us to mail her to you, please add $10 for postage.
